In January and May of each year, unless circumstance prevent, Nobles and Daughters from around Georgia come together for their annual business meetings. The first being a two-day convening of the Desert Leadership Conference or Planning Meeting, during which the Desert Divan and those in attendance discuss the business of the Desert, any significant changes from the recently held Imperial Session, acknowledge those newly elected officers of the constituent Temples and Courts, and then plan for upcoming Desert Conference and Gala Day Observance.

The second, is the Desert Conference and Gala Day Observance, which during a four-day period covering the weekend and trying not to interfere with other Fraternal and/or Civic scheduled events, it is held in a different host city (known as an Oasis) each year, members meet to discuss and vote on business matters of the Desert of Georgia. The fraternal order also hosts a variety of fun events, which may include a parade and unit competitions. Other traditional events include a pageant and/or various contests.

Finally, the Nobles and Daughters celebrate Gala Day, which is when they take time to fellowship and enjoy the fruits of their labors by honoring Nobles, Daughters, Potentates, Commandresses, and Deputies throughout the Desert of Georgia.

Jubilee Day Celebration

(Celebrated in June)

The Nobles of the Desert of Georgia, as well as all Nobles around the domain, celebrate Jubilee Day which commemorates one of the most important days in the history of the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles Mystic Shrine (A.E.A.O.N.M.S.), North & South America and its Jurisdictions, Inc., Prince Hall Affiliated.

The History of Jubilee Day began in August 1914, with a lawsuit against our order, which ended in a historic decision by The United States Supreme Court on June 3, 1929.  The lawsuit attempted to deprive A.E.A.O.N.M.S. of the right to work and be recognized as Shriners.  It also extended those implications to all appending Prince Hall Masons established in the United States of America.  The Unanimous decision of the Nine Supreme Court Justices which upheld our rights to work and be recognized as Shriners, legitimized Prince Hall Masonry in this Country as well as other Fraternal Orders composed of Black Members, which are of similar Organizations, Doctrine and Purpose as those composed of White Members.

The long, fifteen-year court battle was a sacrifice of devastating proportions for our economically disadvantaged Brotherhood.  Yet, with unwavering determination, unified effort and a cost of seventy-seven thousand dollars, our leaders met the challenge and were successful in their cause.
